Bangkok (Krung Thep, meaning "city of angels") is Thailand's capital city and is the centre for the national politics, industry and other cultural activities. Bangkok is also the home of the revered Thai Royal family. His Majesty the King is recognised as the Head of State, Head of the military and armed forces and the upholder of all religions, particularly the Buddhist faith.

Bangkok, founded in 1782 is now the country's spiritual, cultural, diplomatic, commercial and educational centre. The city of Bangkok covers an area of approximately 1,500 Kilometres square and is home to more that ten million people which is more that 10% of the national population.

Contrary to common perception, Bangkok over the past few decades has developed into a modern, exhilarating and sophisticated city. The city offers visitors more that just the cosmopolitan amenities that are expected from a 21st century city, Bangkok displays a unique blend of culture and heritage.
